Magu: Ezekwesili mocks Buhari
He described it as a national disgrace.
Magu was for the second time rejected by the senate on Wednesday following a damming report by the Department of State Services.
Reacting to the development in series of tweets, Ezekwesili said the Federal Government led by Muhammadu Buhari was making a mockery of the anti-corruption war, which was the anchor point of its campaign before the 2015 general elections.
According to her, “Between Presidency of @MBuhari & the@NGRSenate of @bukolasarakiwhatever game is being played with @officialEFCC is a NATIONAL DISGRACE.
“A Govt that campaigned on Anti-Corruption is making a MOCKERY of its war. PITIFUL.@MBuhari @NGRSenate@bukolasaraki @officialEFCC.”
Recall that the senate had rejected Magu in December after the DSS declared him unfit for the role.
Upon his re-nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari, the DSS insisted on its report, informing the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly in a fresh letter that it had made its position on Magu’s screening known in its first report.
Ezekwesili, however, wondered why the President re-nominated Magu despite damming reports against him by the DSS.
She tweeted, “Presidency should explain to Citizens why Prez@MBuhari who is privy to DSS report on Magu of @officialEFCCrenominated him to@NGRSenate.”
She also accused the Buhari administration of making Nigerians believe that much-talked-about anti-corruption war was a joke.
She added, “For Presidency of@MBuhari you have dug the anti-corruption war into a Credibility Deficit HOLE. Will you DIG OUT?@NGRSenate @bukolasaraki.
“Citizens, WE ignore necessity for an EFFECTIVE anti-corruption war at OUR peril. Corruption KILLS.@MBuhari @NGRSenate@bukolasaraki.”
